Crochet snood from thin yarn patterns. The easiest crochet snood: a detailed master class. Openwork snood crochet: description, knitting pattern, pattern

Such an accessory as a children's snood has already taken its place of honor in the wardrobes of young dandies and fashionistas. To be honest, kids don't really like to wear ordinary scarves: they often lose them or deliberately remove them from the neck, because something somewhere presses, interferes or rubs. This will not happen with a snood, since this scarf "sits" tightly around the neck, without squeezing it. To make your future product fit the crumbs perfectly, size must be correct.

  • For a child 4-6 years old, allowable snud width - 15 cm, length 100 cm (1 skein of thread).
  • If your child is 7-9 years old, then the width of the scarf should be 18 cm, and the length 115 (2 skeins of yarn).
  • For ages 10-12 snood should be knitted, 20 cm wide and 130 cm long (3 skeins of yarn).

And after 12 years"adult" sizes are already coming - 22 cm and 145 cm, respectively. Beautiful and warm snood scarf you can pick up a factory-made one for your baby, for example, from knitwear, or you can knit it yourself. In the following sections you will find photos of stylish and simple knitted snoods, as well as diagrams and recommendations for their practical implementation. We wish you a great creative mood!

Snood is called a circular scarf popular in the last few years. The principle of its manufacture is simple to the extreme. This is an elementary strip of a knitted even fabric, closed in a circular fabric. There are several ways to knit it, each of which has its own specifics and features. A common feature of the snoods described in this article is that they are all crocheted.

Choosing a hook

Knitting a snood with knitting needles is a classic. However, this method has several disadvantages:

  • Long production time (even when working with a thick thread, knitting takes longer than crocheting).
  • If you choose a pattern that is at least a little more complicated than an elastic band, you get a one-sided canvas.
  • Knitting is generally more troublesome than similar crochet work.

In addition, (the scheme of almost any even pattern is perfect for this) it turns out to be more dense and warm.

What yarn to choose?

Any yarn of medium thickness is suitable for crocheting a snood. When choosing a material, you should think about the final form of the finished product, as well as think about the style of wearing it. If a scarf is supposed to be worn on the head, then the fabric should be more or less soft (thread 200-400 m / 100 grams thick). Too hard snood will bristle and cause difficulties in the formation of folds (thick thread 50-200 m / 100 grams).

Crocheting snood (diagrams and descriptions on the net often come with recommendations regarding yarn) is better from a material with a natural composition. The optimal content is considered to be 40-60% wool, angora or mohair. Acrylic, cotton or bamboo can be used as an additive. The last two materials are of plant origin, so they will not roll when worn.

Of course, you can use it very much like in the photo with a brown scarf.

However, then you need to use a large hook (from 7 and above), monitor the tightness of the knitting and do not tighten it. You should not look for complex patterns in order to crochet such a large snood. The scheme is suitable for the simplest, up to elementary double crochets.

You can break your head over the choice of a pattern or a combination of several patterns if the scarf is openwork and knitted from a thin thread (400 m / 100 grams and thinner).

The simplest crochet pattern for snood

As mentioned above, the easiest way to make a circular scarf is with simple double crochets. You don't even need a diagram here.

Often, circular knitting is used to perform snood. This avoids the need to stitch the product after completion of work. But knitting in circular rows has its drawbacks:

  • Shifting the pattern with each next row a little to the side. The same happens with the place of comparison of the beginning and end of the series. It should be neat and even, this must be monitored.
  • When including colored threads, their introduction should be carefully drawn up.
  • There is a risk of gradual expansion of the canvas. Most often this is due to the accidental addition of loops when moving from one row to another.

Avoiding circular knitting, you can simply make a flat strip and then sew it neatly. Each craftswoman chooses for herself the way of knitting a snood.

Openwork snood crochet: diagrams and description

The greatest difficulties begin when an openwork pattern is required. Here it is important to think over the model in advance and match the selected yarn with the pattern. The photos below show simple patterns that are suitable for knitting snoods.

They can be used for yarn with a thickness of at least 300 m / 100 grams, otherwise the holes in the pattern will be too large, and the scarf itself will be stiff. These patterns will give a more or less solid canvas, it will be both beautiful and warm. The next pattern consists mainly of chains of air loops, so the scarf will turn out to be quite soft and loose, with a lot of holes.

This pattern is ideal if you plan to use angora or mohair yarn as a material. Such a crocheted snood (the pattern leaves room for emphasizing the advantages of a fleecy thread) will turn out to be soft, warm and elegant at the same time. If desired, you can replace the double crochets in the second row of "bushes" with air columns. Then the pattern will become more voluminous and will stand out against the background of the grid.

Knitting snood along

In order for the pattern on the scarf to be located along the fabric, you should start knitting with a very long chain of air loops. Its size is determined by counting the loops in a previously knitted pattern. This step should not be underestimated, as it avoids unraveling and adjusting the product to size.

The sample is knitted from the selected yarn and according to the selected pattern. Only in this way will the calculations be correct. By counting the number of loops of the pattern per 10 cm of the canvas, you can find out how many loops you need to dial in order to crochet the snood. Any knitting pattern is suitable for such knitting.

The length of the row with this knitting method will be the length of the scarf, and the height of the fabric will be its width.

Snood tied across

This method is a little simpler than the previous one, it allows you to make crochet snood faster. The row pattern with this knitting is much shorter. Here, too, a sample is required. Otherwise, you may suddenly find that the scarf is too narrow and requires tying, or vice versa - the excess width does not allow you to meet the yarn limit.

The length of each row with this knitting will be equal to the width of the finished scarf. And the height of the canvas is the length of the snood. A feature of this method is the impossibility of using circular knitting.

Shutdown

Using the information on how to crochet snoods, with diagrams and recommendations regarding the process itself, do not forget about the finishing stage. After the scarf is ready, it should be washed in warm water (never hot) and dried in the unfolded form. In the future, snood will need to be washed in this way.

Hot water shrinks wool and angora fibers, and hanging can cause it to stretch unevenly.

If you want to change the stretch or even out the knitting, you can steam it with a steam iron through a wet, thin cloth. However, do not get carried away, as high temperatures can lead to shrinkage. And if the yarn has a high acrylic content (more than 60%), then the steamed fabric will become too soft.

The tips for making a snood can only be a guide for knitters, since each product has its own specifics and needs an individual approach.

How to crochet snood?

I want to invite you today to knit a scarf - a snood from high single crochets (the so-called elastic pattern). The work is very interesting and simple. This type of snood turns out to be very elastic, looks good on both a girl and a woman, and is also suitable for a child.

The pattern of this snood is suitable for any outfit. Due to the fact that the snood will be made of yarn of medium thickness, it will look quite voluminous, which will add charm and sophistication to your image and warm with its warmth.

We will need:

  • Hook number 3
  • Yarn "Pekhorka Comfortable" 230m/100g

Completing of the work:

  • First, we try to knit a sample in order to further calculate the number of loops.
  • To do this, we collect an odd number of loops: 27 loops, we close the ring. Work will be done in a circle.
  • Next, we make 4 lifting air loops.
  • In the 2nd loop, the bases we make a regular single crochet, we got two loops on the hook, we knit one loop, then only the first loop again and only the third time we knit two loops together.
  • One air loop and again repeat the single crochet from the previous one through two loops on the base.
  • So we knit in a circle.
  • When we have reached the end of the row, we do not make a connecting column, but smoothly move to the second row, as if in a spiral, with our elongated elastic single crochet. Knit like this for 4-5 rows, you should get 10 cm in height.

From this blank we will determine the density of knitting. To do this, we measure the width of our workpiece in a circle (I got 24 cm). Now we divide our dialed 27 ch. by 24 cm, it turned out 1.125 v.p. in 1 cm pattern. For a meter snood, namely, we knit a meter snood, it will fit all owners of 40 - 48 sizes, we make the following calculations. 100cm * 1.125 ch \u003d 112.5 ch, which means we cast on an odd number of loops 113. We try to tie the chain of air loops weaker so as not to tighten the entire product. Now we knit a snood with a pattern with which we knitted a blank. Knit to the height you need, I knitted 40 cm. Now cut and fasten the threads. I took the idea for the snood from the video, see it below.
